Art Experience

Vincent Van Gogh & Sunflowers

This is not recent art experience actually. However, I really want to introduce my impressive art experience in the past. It was last year, and I visited Philadelphia at that time.
Last winter, I visited Philadelphia Museum of Art. When I visited there, I saw the picture “Sunflowers” that was drawn by Vincent Van Gogh. Even though it was my first time to visit the big museum, it was so impressive. When I saw the picture, it was familiar because I already saw the picture and artist name on TV and Internet. Without any kind of information about him, I could regard the picture as just famous masterpiece. Because I had no idea about the picture and the painter, it was just good drawn picture to me. At that time, I saw the picture over 10 minutes. It sounds weird, but that was true. It was the first time to see the real picture “Sunflowers,” but it was something special. The color is not only yellow. It is yellow, but some part of sunflowers’ color seems like sun’s color itself.
However, after I heard about Vincent Van Gogh’s history of his life, it is not only the picture also it seems like described his life. In the picture, 14 sunflowers seem different figures. One sunflower is in full bloom. On the other hand, another sunflower is not in bloom yet. Even some sunflowers look like try to avoid sun. When I heard his unfortunate life even though he had extreme talented, I recognized the sunflowers are also reflection of his life. That is not only the famous artist life, it also includes Van Gogh’s suffering and anguish that made to cut his ear by himself.
I saw a lot of art works at that time, but I could not forget my feeling about the sunflowers. For this reason, whenever I see the picture hanging on my living room wall: actually I bought the picture after I saw it, I recall the Vincent Van Gogh’s passion and his anguish in “Sunflowers”
